The Emily Center Annual Fashion Show & Luncheon

Phoenix Children's Hospital

21st Annual Emily Center Fashion Show & Luncheon

Dear Friend,

We are writing on behalf of The Emily Center at Phoenix Children's Hospital - this precious community resource needs our help.

You may know The Emily Center (EC) is the largest pediatric health library in the Southwest and for over 20 years has provided up-to-date, FREE information on medicine and treatments. But did you know that The Emily Center also boasts the largest selection of Spanish materials in the Southwest, including 5 nurses/staff that are bilingual? Almost twenty percent of Emily Center requests are for information in Spanish.

Over 50,000 families are given strength and solace from The Emily Center each year. Anyone dealing with the pain of a sick child can understand that its mysteries are frustrating and exhausting. But medical issues do NOT have to be serious to be mysterious. Thirty percent of Emily Center requests for information are for children who are not hospitalized and fall under the many topics in the library such as pregnancy, parenting, or adoption.

Medical personnel, family and even children use The Emily Center - seeking knowledge and help. Each request is researched for an average of 1-3 hours by a nurse. Materials are emailed, mailed or can be picked up at The Emily Center, just off the lobby at Phoenix Children's Hospital. Anyone looking for answers and information is welcome.

The newest program at The Emily Center, started in 2008, gifts books to children who are patients at Phoenix Children's Hospital. Approximately 200 books per week are lovingly distributed.

The increasing numbers of people using The Emily Center, which operates solely from donations, count on our fundraising efforts to keep materials current and the center fully-staffed. This means that the support and participation of the community, and particularly good friends like you, is crucial.

On Saturday, May 8th at The Arizona Biltmore, over 700 people will gather for the 21st Annual Emily Center Fashion Show & Luncheon, but we need our communities' support to make it happen. Please help to make this year's fundraiser a success by becoming an event sponsor. Your generous donation will allow The Emily Center to continue helping families find answers.

With Appreciation,
